Brand voice: how to make your business sound like you
Your brand voice is how your business sounds in writing — friendly or formal, plain-spoken or technical, warm or no-nonsense. A consistent voice makes you feel human, recognizable, and trustworthy across everything you publish.
How to define your voice
- Think about how you'd talk to a good customer in person.
- Pick a few words that describe your tone (e.g. honest, warm, clear).
- Avoid jargon unless your audience genuinely uses it.
- Write like a person, not a press release.
Keep it consistent
Use the same voice on your website, emails, and social. Consistency makes your business feel coherent and real — and being genuinely human is a quiet advantage over stiff, corporate competitors.
