How to ask customers for testimonials

Testimonials are among your most persuasive assets, and most satisfied customers are happy to give one — they just need to be asked, at the right moment, in an easy way.

How to ask

  • Ask soon after a good experience, when goodwill is high.
  • Make it easy — a quick request with a couple of prompt questions.
  • Offer to draft something they can approve, if they're busy.
  • Get permission to use their name and (ideally) photo.

Guide, don't script

A couple of gentle prompts ('what problem did we solve? what would you tell someone considering us?') produces specific, believable testimonials — far more persuasive than a generic 'great service'.
