What is crawl budget (and does it matter for you)?
Crawl budget is the amount of crawling Google will do on your site in a given period. It's a topic that gets small businesses worried unnecessarily — for most sites, it simply isn't a concern.
When it matters
Crawl budget mainly matters for very large sites — tens of thousands of pages or more. There, you want to make sure Google spends its crawling on your important pages, not on junk or duplicates.
When it doesn't
For a typical small-business site with dozens or a few hundred pages, Google will happily crawl everything. Focus on quality content and clean structure instead of worrying about crawl budget.
Good hygiene helps anyway
Avoiding thin, duplicate pages and keeping a clean sitemap is good practice regardless — it just happens to help crawl efficiency too.
