The power of specificity in your marketing
'We provide quality service' says nothing — everyone claims it. 'Same-day repairs with a 10-year warranty' says something real. Specificity is one of the most underused tools in small-business marketing.
Why specific wins
- It's believable — vague claims read as empty.
- It's memorable — details stick, generalities don't.
- It differentiates — specifics are hard to copy.
How to be specific
Replace adjectives with facts: numbers, timeframes, guarantees, named outcomes. Everywhere you're tempted to write 'great' or 'quality', ask 'according to what?' and put that instead. Concrete beats clever.
