How to choose a hero image for your website
Your hero image — the big visual at the top of the page — shapes the first impression before anyone reads a word. Choosing the right one reinforces your message; the wrong one confuses or cheapens it.
What makes a good hero image
- It reinforces what you do (relevant, not random).
- It's high quality — ideally real, not generic stock.
- It doesn't fight with your headline and text for attention.
- It's optimized so it loads fast (it's often the LCP element).
Support the message
The best hero images make your value clearer and your business more credible. If an image doesn't add meaning — or slows the page down — it's not earning its prime spot.
