Abandoned cart emails: how to recover lost sales
When a shopper adds items to their cart but leaves, a follow-up email can bring a meaningful share of them back. Abandoned-cart emails are one of the highest-ROI automations an online store can run.
What makes them work
- Send the first reminder within a few hours.
- Remind them what they left and make returning one click.
- Address likely objections (shipping, questions).
- Keep the tone helpful, not nagging.
Respect the customer
One or two helpful reminders are fine; a barrage is annoying. And only email people who've opted in. A gentle, well-timed nudge recovers sales you'd otherwise lose entirely.
