Landing page vs. homepage: what's the difference?

A homepage and a landing page can look alike, but they serve different purposes — and using the wrong one for the wrong job quietly wastes traffic and ad spend.

The homepage

Your homepage is the front door for people exploring your business generally. It introduces who you are, points to your main services, and offers several paths.

The landing page

A landing page is built for one campaign and one action — usually where your ads send people. It removes distractions (even the nav) and focuses entirely on converting that specific visitor.

The rule of thumb

  • Sending paid or campaign traffic? Use a focused landing page.
  • General visitors and search? The homepage is the right entry.
