Does your small business actually need a blog?
"You need a blog" is common advice, and it's only sometimes right. A blog is a tool for earning search traffic and trust — valuable if you'll use it well, a waste if it's an abandoned page of stale posts.
When a blog is worth it
- Your customers search for answers before they buy.
- You can answer their real questions better than competitors.
- You'll publish consistently, even if slowly.
When to skip it (for now)
If you can't commit to quality and consistency, your effort is better spent on strong service pages, local SEO, and reviews first. A thin, neglected blog does little — and can even signal neglect.
Quality over quantity, always
A handful of genuinely useful, well-linked articles beats a hundred thin ones. Write for the customer's real question, link it to your relevant pages, and let it compound.
