Above the fold: what belongs at the top of your page

'Above the fold' is what a visitor sees before scrolling — the first screen. It's your best chance to hook someone, so it needs to earn the scroll (and often the click) on its own.

What belongs there

  • A clear headline: what you do and for whom.
  • A short supporting line with the key benefit.
  • One obvious call to action.
  • A trust cue — a quick proof point or rating.

What to avoid

Don't waste this space on a vague slogan, a giant menu, or a slider nobody reads. If a stranger can't tell what you do and what to do next from the first screen, you're losing people before they scroll.
